Esta pieza trabaja sobre los campos electromagnéticos captados en las salas de exhibición y las áreas de mantenimiento del Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires.
Desde dispositivos propios del funcionamiento estructural del edificio, como tableros de electricidad, aires acondicionados y ascensores, pasando por artefactos de iluminación, secadores de mano, heladeras y dispensers de agua, hasta obras de arte que utilizan electricidad y equipos de oficina, como impresoras, computadoras, minicomponentes, celulares y un mouse, todos estos elementos fueron registrados y combinados en una suerte de paisaje institucional de energía radiante.
La pieza vuelve audibles las radiaciones presentes en los ambientes en los que están inmersas diariamente las personas que trabajan en el museo y también sus visitantes. De este modo, expone un territorio cotidiano inmaterial e invisible, para proponer una escucha de la institución desde una perspectiva inaudita.
This piece works on the electromagnetic fields captured in the exhibition halls and maintenance areas of the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires.
From devices that are part of the structural functioning of the building, such as electrical panels, air conditioners and elevators, to lighting fixtures, hand dryers, refrigerators and water dispensers, to works of art that use electricity and office equipment, such as printers, computers, mini-components, cell phones and a mouse, all these elements were recorded and combined in a sort of institutional landscape of radiant energy.
The piece makes audible the radiations present in the environments in which the people who work in the museum and its visitors are immersed on a daily basis. In this way, it exposes an immaterial and invisible everyday territory, in order to propose a listening to the institution from an unheard of perspective.
The current live version of the piece uses three voltage transformers (220V to 110V) as sound sources, employing electricity as an oscillator that is digitally processed to reconstruct, vary and expand the original piece. By using 4 electromagnetic inductors mounted on 3D printed plastic rods, the performer is able to capture the strong electromagnetic fields created by the voltage transformers and process them in real time using the SuperCollider software.
The duration of the piece is of approximately 25 to 30 minutes.
